
Four Statesmen Earn All-American Honors

Four members of the top-ranked Hobart Hockey team were named to the 2024-25 CCM/American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) All-America teams today. Graduate student defenseman Austin Mourar and junior forward Tanner Daniels were named to the East first team and junior goalie Damon Beaver and senior forward Luke Aquaro earned East second team recognition.
Including this year's selections, Hobart has 25 AHCA All-Americans. The four selections are the most Hobart has had since 2016 when it also had four selections. It is also the most by any of the East teams.
A first-team All-New England Hockey Conference selection, Mourar has played in all 28 games this season. He has 20 points on nine goals and 11 assists. Mourar is tied for the team lead with 21 blocked shots. He logged a season-high two points in wins over Manhattanville, Albertus Magnus and Southern Maine. Mourar is ninth in the nation with six power-play goals. He plays a key role in Hobart's defense which ranks first in the nation in scoring defense (1.03) and is eighth in penalty-killing percentage (.867).
Mourar has played in a Hobart record 116 career games. The 2024 NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player has 73 points on 31 goals and 42 assists.
The 2024 NEHC Player of the Year, Daniels has played in all 29 games this season. He leads Hobart with 18 goals, 22 assists and 40 points. Daniels has recorded 13 multi-point games this season. Two of those games came in the NEHC Tournament where he was named the MVP. Daniels is fifth in the nation in game-winning goals (5), ninth in short-handed goals (2), 11th in goals per game (0.62), 12th in points per game (12), and 27th in assists per game (0.76).
Daniels has played in 86 career games, recording 80 points on 33 goals and 47 assists.
The NEHC Goaltender of the Year, Beaver has played in 16 games this season. He is 15 -1-0 with a 1.18 GAA and a .949 save percentage. Beaver is second in the nation in winning percentage (.938), GAA and save percentage. He has five shutouts. Beaver made a season-high 31 saves in Hobart's home opener against Oswego.
The 2023 NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player, Beaver has played in 56 career games, posting a 51-4-1 overall record with a 1.04 GAA, a .956 save percentage and 19 shutouts. He holds Hobart's record for career shutouts and is tied for the program record with 51 wins. Beaver is the third goalie in program history to be named an All-American.
A first team All-NEHC selection, Aquaro has played in all 29 games this season. A captain, he has 16 goals, 17 assists and 33 points. Aquaro has recorded 11 multi-point games, including a two-goal game in Hobart's 3-2 come-from-behind victory over Trine in the NCAA quarterfinals.
A 2023 CCM/AHCA All-America East first team selection, Aquaro has played in 109 career games, recording 70 goals, 63 assists and 133 points. He is currently tied for third on Hobart's career goals list, fourth in points and tied for sixth in assists. Among active players across all divisions Aquaro is second in career goals and tied for seventh in points. Aquaro is just the third Statesman to be a two-time All-American, joining Carl Belizario '17 and Hobart Hall of Famer Keith Longo '09.
Hobart is 27-1-1 on the season. The Statesmen will be back in action tomorrow, March 28, when they take on Geneseo in the national semifinals. Faceoff in Utica, New York, is scheduled for 3 p.m.
