Hartman wins NCAA Elite 90 Award

HARTFORD, Conn. - Hobart hockey sophomore forward Tanner Hartman is the winner of the Elite 90 Award for the 2024 NCAA Division III Men's Ice Hockey Championship.
 
An economics major, Hartman has a 4.0 cumulative grade point average. He was presented the award this evening in Hartford, Connecticut, site of Thursday's national semifinals and Saturday's national championship game. Hartman, who was also named to the AHCA All-America first team tonight, is the second straight Statesman to win the award. Junior defenseman Cooper Swift was the 2023 Elite 90 Award winner.
 
The Elite 90 Award recognizes the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the national championship level in his or her sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers. The Elite 90 Award is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA participating at the finals site for each of the NCAA's championships.
 
Eligible student-athletes are sophomores or above academically who have participated in a sport for at least two years with their school. All ties are broken by the number of credits completed.
 
On the ice, Hartman leads the nation's most productive offense. Hobart is averaging 5.38 goals per game, the only team over 4.9 goals per game this season. Hartman leads the Statesmen in goals (19), assists (25) and points (44). He is seventh in the nation in points per game (1.52).
 
Hobart is 26-2-1 entering Thursday's semifinal against Utica (24-2-3). The Statesmen are unbeaten in their last 23 games, including 12 straight wins. They will faceoff with the Pioneers at 3 p.m. in the Koppel Community Sports Center.
