NEHC Men's Weekly Honors - Week Thirteen

MARSHFIELD, Mass. – The New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) announced its weekly awards for games played through Sunday, February 16th. Norwich University’s Cooper Betrand (Caledon, Ontario) was selected Player of the Week. University of Southern Maine’s Kyle Penton (Waltham, Mass.) was tabbed Goaltender of the Week, while Skidmore’s Evan Brown (Little Silver, N.J.) earned Rookie of the Week accolades.

Player of the Week

Cooper Bertrand – Norwich University
(Sophomore, Defense - Caledon, Ontario)
Bertrand was a driving force from the back end in Norwich's weekend sweep of Elmira. The sophomore defender collected a powerplay goal and an assist on Friday before adding a second powerplay goal on Saturday to compliment two more helpers, giving him five points on the week.

Goaltender of the Week

Kyle Penton – University of Southern Maine
(Senior, Goaltender - Waltham, Mass.)
Penton made 39 saves in a 5-2 win against VTSU Castleton on Saturday, finishing with a .951 save percentage.

Rookie of the Week

 

Evan Brown – Skidmore College
(Freshman, Forward - Little Silver, N.J.)
Brown assisted on three goals over the weekend for Skidmore in a road split with Salve Regina. On Saturday night, the first-year winger had an assist on Skidmore’s third goal of the game that tied the score in the third period. Then, he had helpers on both the first and sixth Thoroughbred goals on Sunday as the team rolled to a 6-2 win over the Seahawks. Brown finished the weekend with four shots and a plus-2 rating.

HONOR ROLL

Luke Aquaro – Hobart College
(Senior, Forward - Yardley, Pa.)
Aquaro led the Statesmen with three points on two goals and an assist against New England College. On Friday night, he scored the game-winning goal against the Pilgrims and also added an insurance goal in the third period. In addition, he won 23 faceoffs and finished the weekend with a +3 rating. Aquaro has played in 23 games this season, recording 30 points on 14 goals and 16 assists.

Zane Kindrachuk - Albertus Magnus College
(Senior, Forward - Calgary, Alberta)

Kindrachuk had a hand in each of the Falcon’s three goals in Saturday’s tight battle with UMass Boston. He assisted on the first goal of the game before netting two goals of his own in the second period.
