NEHC Men's Weekly Honors - Week Fourteen

MARSHFIELD, Mass. – The New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) announced its weekly awards for games played through Sunday, February 24th. New England College teammates Gunnar Sibley (Monticello, Minn.) and Egor Osipik (Minsk, Belarus) earned Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week, respectively. Hobart College’s Damon Beaver (Whitby, Ontario) nabbed Goaltender of the Week accolades.

Player of the Week

Gunnar Sibley - New England College
(Sophomore, Forward - Monticello, Minn.)
Sibley led NEC with a four-point week, tallying two goals and two assists across a 1-1 weekend against Albertus Magnus. The sophomore scored the game's first goal in Friday's 2-1 playoff-clinching win. On Saturday, Sibley added one goal and two assists to round out the regular season with an even nine goals and nine assists.

Goaltender of the Week

Damon Beaver – Hobart College
(Junior, Goaltender - Whitby, Ontario)
Beaver stopped all 23 shots he faced on Friday night as the Statesmen defeated Babson 2-0. It was his fifth shutout of the season. With the win, Beaver improved to 12-1-0 on the season with a 1.08 GAA and a .955 save percentage. The win also secured Hobart its 23rd win of the season. It is the most wins in a regular season for the Statesmen.

Rookie of the Week

 

Egor Osipik - New England College
(Freshman, Forward - Minsk, Belarus)
Osipik scored two goals and added one assist in Saturday's matchup against Albertus Magnus, continuing his stellar freshman season in Henniker. The impressive rookie concluded the regular season with 10 goals - second most on the team.

HONOR ROLL

Nate Mueller – Babson College
(Junior, Goaltender - Rogers, Minn.)
Mueller posted a 0.96 goals against average over the weekend against No. 1 Hobart. He stopped 62 of 64 shots for a .969 save percentage. He made 28 saves in Friday’s 2-0 loss and then stopped 34 shots to record his second career shutout as the Beavers became the first team to blank the Statesmen since January 10, 2020, on Saturday.

Kayde Kinaschuk - University of Southern Maine
(Sophomore, Forward - Calgary, Alberta)
Kinaschuk registered three points in a split weekend with UMass Boston. On Friday, he had a hand in both Husky goals, collecting a goal and an assist. On Saturday, he got the scoring started for the Huskies in the eventual 5-4 victory.

Sam Anderson - Albertus Magnus College
(Senior, Forward - Calgary, Alberta)
Anderson collected three assists during a 1-1 weekend with New England College. The senior forward became Albertus’ all-time points scorer after his two assists on Saturday.

Danny Magnuson – Skidmore College
(Senior, Defense - Sunfish Lake, Minn.)

Magnuson had an immediate impact upon his return to the lineup for the Thoroughbreds over the weekend in a split with Norwich. The senior blueliner eclipsed the 20-point plateau over the weekend, when he had a goal and two assists for three points. In Friday’s victory, he scored Skidmore’s third goal on the power play to put the team up 3-1 before assisting three minutes later on the eventual game winner, also on the power play. He then had the primary helper on Skidmore's second goal on Saturday in a late Thoroughbred comeback attempt.
